Ryder toyed around a bit with BMX two years ago but we ran into lots of hurdles to get him back out there. With the season starting up this time of year, he’s been eager to give it another try so we’ve had him to a few gate practices as well as a clinic. All of which he is beyond stoked about. He had been using bikes out of the loaner program at the track itself and last night (his first ever race) the shop manager made us an offer we couldn’t pass up. If we wanted his loaner bike it was ours for $100. Done.
Its not perfect as you could assume a loaner bike would be, but the guts of it are in great shape. So he and I will bring it up to race standards as well as some fitment adjustments and he’ll have an awesome bike to ride for a couple seasons when he undoubtedly will grow out of it.
So yes… last night was his first ever race. He’s got a lot of work to do to be able to keep up, but we think he’s willing to put the time in and he had a blast.
