This one hurts…

At this point my emotions are so drained from these incidents that I feel desensitized to them. However this one hurts. This limb came down in our most recent tropical depression which really was more of an inconvenience then real weather event. Nonetheless, damage occurred. This was our maple (?) which otherwise had a completely clean bill of health and I’ve never worried about. Unfortunately it dropped a 50′ limb at 4 am before the “real weather” was set to arrive. It came to rest on top of mom and dad’s home away from home and it didn’t let go at the tree trunk so it spanned across the yard making its removal tricky.

After several hours, I finally freed it up with ample amounts of redneck engineering. I didn’t want to wait in its removal because we were still supposed to receive ample rainfall and if there were potential leaks on top of the RV, I wanted to mitigate further damage. Low and behold, somehow the roof membrane was nearly unharmed however the main room air conditioner and the access ladder took the brunt of the damage.

I’m now in the wait and see position as the rig needs to have the roof structure looked at to determine potential damage to the trusses.
