Ramblewood is Going to Kill Me

  • First, the offer beat us up. Big time, like $30k worth… that’s practically 10% of our cheap little house.
  • Then the ejector pump seized on a baby wipe that was mistakenly flushed (messy but inexpensive repair). Thank god the basin didn’t overflow or else we would have had another whole nightmare on our hands.
  • Then we got soaked for a $4k chimney repair that other contractors said wasn’t necessary (I no longer think our realtor is on our side). The claim was that the insert had to be replaced and a liner installed. Total BS up-sell. The chimney inspector had the balls to say “I’m shocked this house hasn’t burned down” to the buyers. Had that blown the deal (which it did in a way) I would have sued him for slander.
  • I pound thru the rest of the addendum items, mostly nuisance items like the fogged double pane window in the sunroom, replace sump pump basin and pump, etc. Buyers of course wanted a licensed contractor for every little thing… like replacing a window lock. Seriously?
  • Water gets shut off for 5 days following well disinfection (that’s a lot of of fun with a 2.5 yo). Its not uncommon to have a little bacteria in the well and this is a usual process. The well people forgot to call us back on Friday when the results came in. Nice… that’s quality service there!

  • Then ejector pump stops working (again!).  Some how spared again before the basin overflowed. I was in the shower and heard the toilet start bubbling air. This time its really dead. The motor grease probably got cooked out when it seized the first time. I replaced that the night before the follow up assessor gave us 2 hours inspection notice. Fuck him!
  • In the meantime, I have successfully filled to a capacity… a 10×30′ storage unit. Holy shit we have too much stuff!!!
  • Last night, trying to get some outside stuff packed in the backyard, swimming pool next to the well head. Seriously!?! Dig down 2 feet to the pitless adapter in a sea of mud while trying to keep Ryder from swimming in it (Kris was with her dad at the hospital) only to run out of daylight. Out of fear of severing the 240V power wire or the house supply line, I called a well guy to come to fix it…. another few hundred bucks up in smoke.
  • More packing tonight yea!! At least we should have water back on by then.
