Sometimes a kid just needs to dig in the dirt. It’s not always the three year old either. It can be really satisfying doing some manual labor and getting things done. Now that Fall is here and the leaves are falling like popcorn from the movie theater popper, I needed a way to get to the back of the property to dump the leaf vac (which is paying for itself in spades) but the side yard was closed off by excessive overgrowth and a few stumps. But this… this is why man invented machines! In two hours time, I cut my logging road (that’s pretty much what it looks like) from the front to the back of the property. Right thru the worst of the vines and heavy growth. Insert Tim the Toolman Taylor grunt!
Once there I created a little corral to dump leaves in with straw bales, of which I need several more. The road will also really come in handy when I rent the giant chipper that is going to be necessary to clean up all the dead fall that has come down in the last year (the amount is staggering really).
